The OS X Yosemite update will be available as a free update to compatible devices, Apple will release it this fall, and although no exact data has been given, it should land around September of October.

Apple are also releasing a public beta of OS X Yosemite this summer, this will be available to test out to the first one million people who register for the beta program.

The New OS X Yosemite 10.10 have lots of new features and updates and of course you will update to OS X Yosemite when available to everyone this fall. But before that you must know the OS X Yosemite system requirements. I have already dual boot OS X Mavericks and OS X Yosemite beta on my MacBook 13-in, Mid 2009 (Intel 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) and its working absolutely fine. Simply If your Mac can run OS X Mavericks then your Mac is compatible with OS X Yosemite 10.10, but I think next time I need to update my Mac :).

Click on Apple menu and select “About this Mac” option, this will open a screen with some basic Mac software and hardware information.
